Lakme Fashion Week, Winter Festive 2010 - Malini Ramani

Malini Ramani showcased Lakmé’s theme for the season - the Gypsy Collection, at the Lakme Fashion Week, Grand Finale. The collection was divided into four segments - Mystery, Bliss, Cosmic and Nirvana of life and consisted of tribal and gypsy looks.
Mystery consisted of black long creations with shimmering mirror and shell embroidery. Bliss was a riot of colors that ranged from yellow, red, orange, black, brown and green. Cosmic mode had outfits that were embellished with the magnificent feather, shell and coins. The show ended with Nirvana which was done in black and red with lots of mirror work.

A very big collection with some dresses that are outstanding and lots that are wearable once you strip away the makeup and accessories. I love most of the outfits in first and third row..The second row is way too colorful for me:-)

Lakme Fashion Week, Winter Festive 2010 - Neeta Lulla

Neeta Lulla celebrated her two decades in the fashion industry with a show that celebrated Bollywood glamour. Her collection consisted of dresses, evening gowns, sequins encrusted turkish pants and net lehenga/sari combos. The garments were dominated by sequins, glittering Swarovski crystals, rosettes and pleating. The fabrics were rich silks, satin, chiffon, net and crepe and the color palette was vibrant yellow, orange, turquoise, blue, mauve, flame red, gold and emerald green.

I found the whole collection loud and tacky and fit only for the silver screen. The showstopper was Sridevi in a gown which I hope I never see again not even in Bollywood item numbers!!

Lakme Fashion Week, Winter Festive 2010 - Ravage by raj Shroff

Raj Shroff collection titled, "Alice is Lost", gives the Indian bride a new free-spirited look. He used handloom fabrics along with the popular silk, chiffon, net. Dark green color was the main color in most of his dresses which he teamed up with red, ivory and yellow.

I loved the color combinations Raj has used - very soothing and pleasing to the eye. Fabulous layering and his dresses have a very origami feel. But I really dont think any bride is going to wear something this simple and plain. Maybe for lunch with the girls..

Key Looks

Red Carpet picks: This look is perfect for Kiran Rao (Aamir Khan's wife) and the cast of "Robinhood".

Lakme Fashion Week, Winter Festive 2010 - Shyamal and Bhumika

Decadent is the word that came to mind when I saw Shyamal and Bhumika's collection. They presented a collection that was rich in colors, fabrics and embroidery. Titled "Bejewelled", the collection consisted for regal bridal wear. The fabrics varied from velvets, to lots of silk nets, gold lame and luxurious brocades. The color palette was of jewel tones - bright red, sangria, plum, wine, emerald green, gold ochre and champagne beige dazzled on the ramp. A very beautiful, ornate collection.
