Nokia E-Cu: Designed by Patrrick Hyland - - A Copper-coated Cellphone Charged by Heat in Surroundings

It is very frustrating when you realize that you forgot to pack your cell phone charger on your business trip. The one you borrow from your colleague turns out to be another make and doesn’t fit your phone. Those are the times when you really wish you had a phone that did not require a charger. You are not the only one so Nokia E-Cu concept phone has been developed that need not be plugged in to be charged.

Designer Patrrick Hyland has developed the phone that can soak up energy from any heat source. The designer is confident that the phone would work off the warmth of your pocket also. The phone will charge itself if kept someplace where the temperature ranges between 86 degrees and 104 degrees Fahrenheit. Initially the phone will take seven hours to be charged fully. After that it will simply keep charging itself if it finds itself in sufficiently high temperature.

There is a thermo generator in the phone that converts heat into electrical energy. The phone has been encased in copper with engraved heat sinks to collect and conduct more heat for the phone. The shimmering copper coating enhances the look of the phone as well. Nokia has no immediate plans to manufacture the phone commercially but Hyland is open to collaborate with anyone who is convinced about its commercial potential. It could be termed a green phone if you consider the saving in terms of chargers not produced and the electricity they consume being plugged in all day.

LG Star: Gets First Emergence on The Web - - With Super Fast Speed Runs on the NVIDIA Tegra 2

The LG Star made a surprising emergence on US technology website Engadget, courtesy of what it calls a very generous and anonymous tipster.

The phone, which is still a beta device, runs on the NVIDIA Tegra 2 and is ostensibly so fast that it will give current phones; including the Nexus S, an inferiority complex.

The LG Star comes with a 4-inch WVGA display likely to be a super LCD rather than an AMOLED one. It has four touch sensitive buttons in the front with a front camera as well plus a microUSB port.

Although LG played it safe with the design of the handset, the performance, even for a phone still in development, is anything but.

On Engadget's own benchmarks, the LG Star was almost three times faster than the Samsung Galaxy S which provides with the hardware foundation of the Nexus S.

Expect the phone to be launched at CES 2011 or MWC 2011 in Barcelona next year with a global roll out by the end of first half of 2011.

Leaked Specifications for Nokia N9 - - With 12 MP Camera and Seemed to be a Powerful Gaming Device

For one week or so WikiLeaks is catching all the attractions but there’s another leak, that is buzzing around the web, has provided details regarding the Nokia N9.

As per the leaked information; specification suggests the Nokia N9 will be powered by an ARM Cortex 1.2 GHz processor, will have a 12 mega-pixel camera that uses Carl Zeiss optics, 1GB of ROM and 768MB of RAM. It's also suggested that the Nokia N9 will be capable of pushing 190 million polygons per second, which will make it a hugely powerful gaming device.

However, these are just rumours and looking at the rest of the posts by the guys who leaked the specifications they don't seem the most clued up people.

The only thing we know about the Nokia N9 is that it's due to run on the MeeGo platform and we previously heard rumours that the N9 would have a 10 mega-pixel camera, so perhaps these specs are reliable. The photos above are ones that were leaked back in August.

Once we hear more about the Nokia N9 we'll let you know.
