Dressed down behind the camera: Jennifer Aniston roughs it to direct short film

By MARCUS BARNES

Doing her vest: Jennifer Aniston on the set of her Project Five movie in Los Angeles

She's never usually seen looking anything less than immaculate, but Jennifer Aniston looked keen to prove she meant business during a return to working behind the camera.

The former Friends actress, 42, dusted off her roughs as she hit the set in Los Angeles.

She was almost unrecognisable in comparison to the Jennifer we're used to seeing - well turned out, dressed to kill with her famous locks styled to perfection.

Glamour girl: The actress in a more familiar guise glammed up on the red carpet and leaving a television studio

Instead the star took charge of her film set in combats and desert boots, teaming them with a puffer vest and a plain navy t-shirt.

With a walkie-talkie in her hand at all times, it was clear Jennifer was intent on making sure cast and crew took her seriously.

The actress is directing a short film about the effects of cancer on a woman's relationship.

Cancer story: Patricia Clarkson gets into character on the set of the Project Five movie which debuts in October this year

It will be one of five short movies based on the same theme, conceived as part of a series called Project Five.

Patricia Clarkson takes the lead role in the film, portraying the cancer victim.
Actress Demi Moore, 48, and singer Alicia Keys, 30, are also directing movies as part of the project.

Their films will be teamed up with Jennifer's to create one full-length feature to air later this year on US channel Lifetime.

Jennifer Aniston goes behind the camera to direct a short film about breast cancer

New challenge: Jennifer Aniston is heading behind the camera and is set to direct a short film about breast cancer as part of the Lifetime Project Five anthology series

Jennifer Aniston is taking a break from the hair and make-up chair and is heading behind the camera in a director's role.

The 42-year-old actress is set to direct a short film about breast cancer as as part of the Lifetime Project Five anthology series.

The former Friends star will join Alicia Keys, Demi Moore and Monster and Entourage director Patty Jenkins.

A fifth director will join the team for the five-part series but the name has yet to be announced.

'Our hope with Project Five is to entertain, inform and inspire dialogue, research and prevention. Otherwise, our goals are small', Jennifer told Us Weekly.

She added: 'We want these films to move people and empower those affected by breast cancer to stand tall through this challenge, which impacts all of our lives, no matter who we are.'

Last year Aniston spoke about her desire to move behind the camera.

She said: 'I have a project in development I'm going to direct. After you get enough movies under your belt you sit back and go, "What's next?" It's getting to a time where creatively I want to turn in a different direction.'

Four years ago, Aniston was one of a group of celebrities who took part in Glamour's Reel Moments film series and directed the Robin Wright Penn and Kris Kristofferson short Room 10 about a moody nurse who throws herself into her work to avoid her problems at home.

Aniston has also produced three movies - Management, The Switch and the upcoming The Goree Girls.

Jennifer Aniston’s Hair styles

Jennifer Aniston has had a not-so-secret love affair with long layers for the past several years — until, that is, she abruptly chopped them off into a shoulder-length bob this week. But this recent hair change-up certainly wasn’t a first for the star, who’s rocked everything from extra-long and straight tresses in 2000 to that ubiquitous ’90s cut dubbed “The Rachel” in honor of her character on Friends. And while the star has since come out in the press calling that particular flippy style, “the ugliest haircut I’ve ever seen,” we can’t help but love each of her evolving looks in its own way.

Jennifer Aniston Stole Her Fragrance Idea from 'Seinfeld'

"Jennifer Aniston’s new perfume, Jennifer Aniston, just hit stores. As part of her campaign blitz, Aniston reportedly told an interviewer that the scent was inspired by the smell of the beach. Why does that sound familiar? Because The Beach fragrance was already a storyline on Seinfeld, a show which shared an NBC comedy lineup with a little show you might remember called Friends. Consumerist points out that if Cosmo Kramer were a real person he would totally have grounds for a lawsuit. I’d totally love to see Jennifer Aniston try to rock some homeless-guy sweaters and a nervous twitch, though."
