Mathew Miller AW11 Collection - - Features Some of The Most Intriguing Pieces of Outerwear

The Mathew Miller AW11 collection features some of the most intriguing pieces of outerwear for the season. With such unique designs, this line will leave no outfit looking bland.

Menswear is being reimagined as the Mathew Miller AW11 garments push contemporary styles towards a more experimental stage. The garments infuse a little avant-garde inspiration, all the while remaining wearable and functional. The colors vary greatly in this collection, from more tame beige fabrics to high-energy vibrant blues and yellows.

One of the stand-out pieces in the Mathew Miller AW11 collection is a cloak-like garment that immediately reminded me of a Jedi’s outfit from Star Wars. It’s a distinct piece that would definitely add a distinct flair for autumn streetwear.

After realizing how frustrating and convoluted most sewing patterns can be, Rosie Martin created the DIYCouture to help get anyone making their own fashion quickly and less painfully. Her guide even helps inspire users to create their own designs rather than pigeonhole them into a set of prefabricated ideas.

Spring/Summer 2011 Nike 6.0 Women’s Lookbook - - Featuring Female Athletes in Hottest Sporty Nike Activewear

Ladies, the wait for summer will be unbearable after you see the new Spring/Summer 2011 Nike 6.0 Women’s lookbook. This lookbook features female athletes Monyca Byrne-Wickey, Carissa Moore, Ellery Hollingsworth and Lakey Peterson sporting the hottest in Nike activewear.

I applaud Nike’s use of actual female athletes in their new lookbook. I’d much rather see actual surfers modeling Nike’s new board shorts than some pouty-faced model who has probably never ridden a wave in her life.

Classic and Timeless Collection for Men and Women by Pendleton

Pendleton offers a variety of clothes for men and women, as well as a beautiful home and blankets collection. Today we’ll show you some of their pieces, which are mostly classic, timeless clothes.

For women, the casual clothes include navy inspired outfits, with white and dark blue stripes, floral prints, pants and button up shirts. You will also find safari-like pieces, with brown and beige tones, trench coats with two rows of buttons, pretty scarves tied around the neck.
The pencil skirts, straight pants, shirt-jackets are great casual pieces for day wear. There is also a line for the working woman, with more elegant clothes, that are perfect for the office. Navy is a very good choice, as it is less boring than the classic black. You’ll also find deux-pieces and blazers in pastels (baby blue, blush), mostly made of tweed; simple dresses and cardigans, worn with discreet necklaces, make good outfits for the office as well.
The shoes at Pendleton are very colorful, and can make any outfit look more joyful. We especially like their flats (ballerinas or moccasins) and their lace-up rubber boots, all of which can be purchased in a variety of colors.
The recommendation for men is to try the grunge/ranch style, with plaid shirts, denim jackets, ethnic prints and hoodies. These create casual outfits that are great for the weekend and leisure time.

Spring 2011 Collection Launched by Anna Sui - - Variety of Ethnic Prints, Embroidered And Colorful Pieces, Natural And Soft Fabrics

At the celebration of two decades of activity, Anna Sui launched the spring 2011 collection, a collection that really suits her style. The overall aspect is boho chic, with a hippie and native American inspiration.
You’ll see a variety of ethnic prints, embroidered and colorful pieces, natural and soft fabrics. The jewelry is made of sand beads, feathers, leather and other such hippie materials; chokers and forehead headbands also make us think of the 60′s-70′s . We love the large, double pocketed, suede shoulder bags, great carriers when in need.
Silk dresses are combine with large, chunky boots, which is the definition of boho-chic. Browns and blues make most of the color palette, combined with other earthy tones. Denim is the key to getting the casual, carefree look from the runway, especially when worn with hand-crocheted knits and vintage lace. Concerning shoes, wooden platforms are also present, as well as flat, comfy sandals.
The collection ends with more sophisticated pieces. Easy, floaty fabrics, in nude colors, make the models look like fairies. Speaking of which, the models of the presentation were indeed contemporary fairies, some of the most famous girls to have walked the runway: Lily Donaldson, Lindsey Wixson, Ginta Lapina, Freja Beha Erichsen, Frida Gustavsson, Fei Fei Sun, Abbey Lee Kershaw, etc.

Fashion Giant Versacé Set to Invade Japanese Market Yet Again

One of the most renowned and respected luxury fashion brands in the world, Versace, is now reportedly planning to re-enter the Japanese markets, after pulling out its operations from the country in the year 2009. During the years that Versace was interacting with the Japanese consumers, the fashion giant had constructed Versace boutiques in major Japanese cities such as Osaka, Tokyo and Chiba.

With the ongoing profits as per the sales figures of Versace, Gian Giacomo Ferraris, the company’s CEO is now eyeing the Japanese markets yet against after enjoying a successful run for 30 years. During the 2009 global recession, Versace was one of the hardest hit luxury brands and as a result was force to carry out mass layoffs, so much so that the company had to move out of Japan. Versace was initially founded in the year 1978 by Gianni Versace and since then this global fashion brand has exuberated a significant class and dominated the luxury fashion vertical for more than 30 years. In an effort to streamline the transition to Japanese markets and ensure s strong foothold in the region, Versace has now hired the services of Hiroshi Saito and given him the designation of chief executive of Versace, Japan.

According to Mr. Ferraris (CEO, Versace),
“Hiroshi Saito is one of the best managers in the Japanese luxury business, and he understands Italian fashion brands better than anyone else. Japan is a key market for our industry, and it wouldn’t make sense for a global brand such as Versace not to be part of it.”

Lumipants: Battery-powered Pants - - Provide a “Dazzling Luminous Effect in Darkness”

I can only imagine how crazy the rave community will go if they ever find out about Lumipants. Lumipants are battery-powered pants that provide a “dazzling luminous effect in darkness.” Translation: these bad boys light up the night.

Lumipants are powered by three AAA batteries and have a reported run time of 12 hours with the LEDs themselves having a 50,000 hour lifespan. While Lumipants may sound too good to be true, they do actually exist.

H&M Spring 2011 Collection: Swedish Brand Set to Launch New Collection in January 2011

The Swedish brand H&M offered a preview to their spring 2011 collection, that will be launched in stores at the beginning of the year. If you’re a fan of this brand – and who isn’t, especially after their collaboration with Lanvin – you’ll definitely see a great and fashionable  style in the new pieces and you will like the collection.
They chose the prettiest, most feminine colors, like pink, coral and salmon, turquoise and light brown, as well as a variety of sweet prints: vertical stripes, floral prints, graphics and color blocks. We love the diamond print bell-shaped dress with three quarters sleeves and the gorgeous heels and believe that these will have great success among the fashion-passionate consumers.
Maxi is the new length for skirts and dresses, according to H&M. This length is most appropriate for taller women, but it can look good on petite women as well, when worn with high heels. The fluidity of such a dress is very comfortable. The capes are still in for spring, made of lighter fabrics, of course, and combined with shorts or dresses. Beware of the mini denim dress: it might just be the next “it” item.
The overall aspect of the collection is feminine and romantic. You will find boho-chic combos like the white peasant dress worn with a vest, urban looks like the leather shorts with a silk shirt, 70s inspired outfits like the ankle striped pants and trench coat. Make sure you check out the entire collection in the video look book that H&M launched recently, starring the gorgeous Frida Gustavsson (see below):

Spring-summer 2011 Collection by the French Brand Carven - - Chic, Feminine And Pared-down Fashion Free From Ostentation

“With its chic, feminine and pared-down fashion, free from ostentation, the House today offers an inspired and accessible ready-to-wear collection” – this is the description of the French brand Carven, according to their own website.
The description actually applies to the spring-summer 2011 collection that is featured on the site: it is feminine and chic, bold, but not over the top. You will find interesting geometrical shapes, black and white graphic prints and smart collars. The collection is based on pastels, and the blush and peach hues look incredibly sweet – I like to believe that no woman can say no to such colors.
Some of the dresses are wrapped and tight, some are draped and some have great volume in the bottom part. You can also find beautiful cocktail dresses, for a more official event. The tulip skirt is also fashionable, but shorts are a nice alternative as well. The shorts-blazer-shirt combo can actually be appropriate for the office, if worn with heels and a suitcase-inspired handbag.
Two of the most inspiring items of this collection are the gray baby-doll trench coat and the blush jacket-dress. Influenced by the classic and classy 50s look, these are must-have pieces for the next season.

The shoes to match this collection look like they have wings: made of black suede, with a big bow in the back, they can bring a simple outfit in the center of attention.
