Air Swimmers: Fish Flying Through the Air With Remote Control in Your Hands

The aircraft-balloon type things aren’t exactly “in” right now, but anyone who loves marine life would flip their lid if they saw this. They’re called Air Swimmers, and they are fish that fly through the air like a remote controlled blimp. They look on the outside as though they’d be terribly boring, but they’re quite graceful and much happier than a toy helicopter that will likely fall out of the sky and injure you if you’re not careful.

They glide and float rather gracefully and look like real aquatic life in a sea of invisible water. Just check out the video below captured at Toy Fair. These should be available in July for about $40, and will definitely be a lot more safe for your children…or yourself, should the batteries die and it fall out of the air.

TankBot from Desk Pets: Remote Control Kids Stuff - - Can be Controlled Using the Accelerometer in Your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch

RC cars were always fun to play with as a kid. Except for those ones that only turned if the car was going in reverse. Well naturally, as time goes on and our technology advances, these toys also grow more interesting. Take, for example, this TankBot from Desk Pets that can be controlled using the accelerometer in your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch.

How much fun would it be to pull out your iPhone and be able to control a little bot by simply turning the phone? What’s more, is that you can switch it to autonomous mode and it will use its built-in IR sensors to navigate on its own and avoid obstacles. You can build a maze, and it will actually navigate through it without any help. The best part is that these gadgets will only set you back around $20 when they go on sale this June. They come in four different colors, and each color operates on its own frequency, in case you want to play with more than one.

“Surreal Collages”: Clustered Plastic Toys in The 20/20 Series by Lucas Mongiello

Bright colored plastic toys were an integral part of my childhood, similar toys are now featured in the 20/20 series by Lucas Mongiello. Displayed in cases normally reserved for dead birds, he showcases these childhood companions in what he described as “surreal collages.”

Lucas Mongiello invokes a sense of nostalgia through his works as his series makes use of many different figures that could relate to a wide variety of people. I spotted a Power Ranger action figure that instantly sent my mind whirling back to the 90s.

Take a look at Lucas Mongiello’s 20/20 series and see what childhood memories you’ll stumble upon.

R/C Jumping Kart: Pretty Cool and Funny Stuff for Your Kids - - Enjoy Video Presentation

How many of you have owned an R/C car in their lives? How about a remote controlled helicopter? I’m sure that some of you have owned both. But what about a toy that functioned as both a car and a helicopter? I bet not many of you can say yes to that one.

This R/C Jumping Kart may not be the biggest or fanciest toy you’ve ever seen, however, it is still pretty cool nonetheless. I can imagine the hours of fun you could have with this little guy. From trying to run obstacle courses, to really annoying your cat. On second thought, don’t try that last one. This car will set you back $124, which will make you very upset when your cat catches it mid-air and brings it crashing down.
