Live for the (long weekend)

The best thing about the impending Royal Nuptials? The two day work week! Wahey...Tuesdays are my day off, so I only have to be in Wednesday and Thursday. Unfortunately we have a new system launch on Thursday, which is also my birthday and we're going to be working flat out to provide our usual standard of service, so there won't be much celebrating going on (8am start, 6/7pm finish, no thanks!)...however, the next day being "that" day means I have have belated celebrations with the people that matter most; and maybe crash a few street parties!

Anyhow, I'm getting ahead of myself. First we need to finish this long weekend, and it will be done in chilled out lazy style.
Yesterday I barely moved off my ass, which was hugely satisfying. Today I predict more of the same, perhaps interjected with a trip to Tesco for essentials; girl cannot live on Easter goods alone (as much as she'd like to try)

Easter Haul!

Sadly that bag did not hold the Prestat egg of my dreams, but it did contain sweets and eggs of the miniature variety!

For the first time in years I was willing and able to take part in some Easter eating

I'll be 24 going on 4.

Today I've ditched the floral dresses for my "jazzy trousers"

Happy Easter! Who's already in a chocolate coma?

Dear Uk, please start selling Peeps. I LOVE the marshmallow good/badness.

This weekend has been glorious...hot, happy inducing summer sunshine; I could get used to this! It's made all the more sweet by actually being able to appreciate and enjoy it all this year, rather than it passing me by in some kind of blur.

Outfits have involved the obligatory floaty florals.

Saturday; Primark maxi skirt and cardi thing. Staple £1.99 New Look vest that I now own in five colours.

I saw this from my window Saturday morning. I'm so excited for Bristol Balloon Fiesta and actually being able to go this year, I love hot air balloons and the night glow is generally amazing!

Easter outfit; Vintage dress from ebay. Tights which were abandoned for bare legs and sandals that shredded my feet despite usually being my comfy shoes.

Midi Ground

Firstly, WOAH, thank you so much for all the votes on the Matalan Style Project so far! If you haven't voted yet and fancy popping on over then do feel free!

Now, this is yesterdays outfit. The dress is Primark; expensive Primark at that. I don't think I've ever paid £15 for a dress in there before, but there is something quite balletic about it and I love the midi length, so I parted with my hard won cash.

Had this dress cost £15 elsewhere I wouldn't have hesitated on snapping it up, even for a second...most likely deeming it a bargain,
but that price in Primark? I found myself shaking my head and muttering "bloody inflation/rip offs/I'm such a cheapskate" under my breath as I made my way to the till.

Are you the same? Do you have an "acceptable limit" when it comes to certain shops?

P.S. Happy Good Friday,
I hope everyone enjoys the day off AND the sunshine!

Manic Monday

Oh there is something in the air today, this morning at work has been MAD and I'm going back for more, shortly.

Outfit today involves polka dots and peter pan collars...a winning combination in my book!

The Best Things

This has been a good weekend. Fact. Today has barely started but I can just tell it's gonna be a good 'un.

Yesterday involved:

- sunshine (mainly)

- a picnic in Castle Park with one of my best friends who amazes me more and more each time I see her.

- realising how much I LOVE life.

- getting an early birthday present, and it being exactly what I NEED/had been wanting to buy.

Photobucket

(thank you again Becca!)

- Barry M crackle polishes on two for £5 in Boots. Well, it'd be rude not to

Photobucket

- Laughing like a maniac on the bus home because of a flurry of text messages involving a very random in joke.

- Having to go back out to hold Mum's hand as she took her car to the car wash. The fact she's scared of it really makes me smile!

- The return of Britains Got Talent!

Today involves:

- More sunshine!

- Spending time with Trudi who I don't see enough of any more

- Also seeing my grandparents, with Trudi, because she is family.

- Granny shorts

Vintage Laura Ashley random ebay purchase. Thankfully verrry cheap!

- People! All of you people who make me laugh, entertain me on twitter, leave gorgeous comments and take my BBM virginity!

What has made your weekend great?

Animal Magic

So last night I had my first night out as a proper member of staff at work! It was leaving do for one of the ladies and we went to an Italian restaurant (a big milestone in itself!)

The dress I wore was an "omg must buy" from River Island. I first saw it on ASOS and was tempted despite the £39.99 price tag...
so when I saw ONE left when in town last Saturday, in my size AND in the sale at £20 it was like the retail gods had shone down on me.

You have to love when fate steps in like that, right?

Work; the wide leg edition

You might think, that given my aversion to fitted trousers [that I am now over-coming, thanks to the amazing feedback] that I'd find the wide legged variety somewhat easier to wear.
But in truth,
if anything I find it harder. The name gives the clue. Wide.
As in, as much as slim fitting shows what I want to hide...the counterpart can add un-wanted bulk and make me feel...dumpy. For want of a better word.

But this is me,
and I've had this pair of trousers in my wardrobe far too long. I know that most of my insecurities about what I look like,
and how clothes make me appear lie firmly within my head. Other people looking at me might not see me the same way I do
[although I imagine a few patients glancing at me and thinking I should come with a "wide load" sticker attached to my rear]
and so today I am wearing the wide legged black trousers to work. A staple for many...a stumbling block for me...I refuse to let some pieces of material defeat me.

Here goes nothing!

My next outfit post will feature what I am wearing to have a social life tonight. Don't all fall off your chairs at once now.

Jazzy[y] Pants

Sometimes impulse buys work out perfectly,
the trousers below, for example were chucked in my Primark basket on the dash to the checkout, with the rationalisation that "at only £8 they'll be fine to sleep in" after my mission for both trousers AND PJs had failed (or I lost motivation in the heat and seething crowds).

They were the first thing I tried on when I got home. I rarely try things on in shops. It was love at first fit.

Surprisingly smart. Ever so comfy...a little bit "crazy cat spinster". I bet you I live in these. Sadly these photos were taken for the sole purpose of the blog,
it's not warm enough outside today to wear the sockless shoes required. But soon, I have hope that they will make their public debut soon.

What I'm actually wearing today is my loved Daisy dress from Matalan and some ultra comfy leggings to accommodate my sore tum.

Photobucket

Awkward posing is a given.

I'm busy this week,
I'm sorry if I don't stop by blogs as much as usual. I promise an epic catch up spree as soon as I get a chance!

What was your best impulse buy?
