Congratulations to Danica Magpantay for adding one more luster to Philippine fashion!

She becomes the second Asian to bag the top prize of this prestigious international modeling tilt (the first being Hyoni Kang of South Korea), and the third Filipina in the last decade to place as finalist (preceded by Charo Ronquillo in 2006 and Charlene Almarvez just last year, 2nd runner-up and first runner-up respectively :)

Rafe Tontengco is Nine West's new Creative Director for handbags

Props, props, props to New York-based Filipino designer Rafe Totengco for his new appointment as Creative Director of the global brand Nine West. Here's an excerpt of a report from the Philippine Daily Inquirer:

The New York-based Filipino designer had been meaning to take a break as he put his eponymous accessories brand on hiatus (he’s not rolling out a Spring 2011 collection). Rafe New York has been a casualty of the bad economy, so that Totengco had entered into a licensing agreement with another company to keep afloat.

Totengco’s initial directive is to steer the handbag businesses of Nine West and Vintage America. For Nine West, which is exclusively distributed in the Philippines by Stores Specialists Inc., it’s to get the woman who buys the shoes to buy the handbag as well.

The first handbag collection under his direction will roll out in April. It will distinctly be “chicer, cleaner, more polished, more lady,” he says. For Nine West, he has two senior and two associate designers working on the collections.

Totengco says he will revive Rafe soon, under a new licensing agreement with The Jones Group. With the recovering economy, he believes the market will soon be ready again for smaller designer brands. “I would never sell my company,” he stresses.

Audrey Magazine cites New York-based Filipina model Charlene Almarvez as one of their favorite top Asian models for 2010, alongside Chinese mannequins Liu Wen, Shu Pei-Qin, Ming Xi, Sun Fei Fei, Japanese Tao Okamoto and Korean Hyoni Kang.

Paolo Roldan for The Cut

New York Magazine's online column The Cut recently features Filipino international model Paolo Roldan (Boss Models NY).

Philippines-born, Toronto-raised Paolo Roldan is a testament to Riccardo Tisci's power in this industry. On Roldan's last day of fall 2010 castings, the 25-year-old was sent on a last-minute go-see with Tisci, where the two made an instant connection. A month later, Roldan debuted exclusively, closing Givenchy's fall 2010 collection. Tisci then cast the charismatic hunk as the ideal Givenchy man for a spread in Arena Homme +, on top of starring in the label's fall campaign alongside Mariacarla Boscono and Malgosia Bela. Most famously, Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott shot Roldan in the flesh for French Vogue (which you can see in the NSFW slideshow). But he's now catching on with other designers too. Phillip Lim recently courted Roldan to close out his spring 2011 show. Reminder: This all happened in the span of just one year.

Cristiano Ronaldo and other Real Madrid players participated in an Adidas football clinic containing children from ages 12 to 16 on UCLA's campus yesterday (5 August 2010).

The players divided themselves into four groups, and entertained the children by joining them in playing several keep-away games.

The players then moved on to play two practice matches, where Cristiano Ronaldo, Sergio Ramos, Canales, and Casillas entertained the audience.

The youngsters that had their opportunity to play with the superstars can only be speechless with the experience afterwards, knowing that it was a chance of a life time to meet with the Spanish Giants.

Cristiano Ronaldo was having sun in Black Jack, with six of his bodyguards, as he broke the fast of late nights. Since his holiday at Algarve, he has been very homely, spends his time with mom and son.

But On Friday afternoon (23/7) he strolled to a disco at Black Jack, to have fun for a few hours in the company of Jose Pereira and brother in-law including his brother , Hugo. It was 2 in the morning when the young player left the condominium Pinhal Velho in the company of two families and six security guards form an entourage that traveled in three cars.

Cristiano Ronaldo on Vacation ???

Cristiano Ronaldo was on a vacation in Greece, and took some of his pictures there for his fans on Facebook.

But Portuguese media has reported that Cris wasn’t traveled alone, like on the pictures, but with girlfriend Irina, the Russian model. The media even wrote that she left her job on New York just to be with her boyfriend.

It seems that the bond between the two lovey – dovey are getting stronger after his holiday on New York. Cris even planning to take Irina to live with him in Spain, when he joins Real Madrid squad again, soon.

As you know, Cris is reportedly to be back with Real Madrid on July 26th. But now, he is nowhere to be found. No news, pictures of where he might be right now. It’s like he’s been hiding to enjoy the last week of his vacation.

Could it be that they are preparing for the wedding, that rumored to be held on December ?? Then again, no evidence, just rumor….

The Portuguese media is now making a new headlines that Cristiano Ronaldo Jr is actually his nephew from his cousin who died in a car accident few months ago. Cris then adopt the baby as his son. This is quite interesting, yet I find it funny. Why not Katia or Elma who adopt the baby?? Since they both more of a mother figure.Why Cris?

But concerning that both of the sisters already have kids on their own, the media suggested that Cris had to be the one who adopted him.

It could be because Cris lack of attention for the baby, when he chose to spend his holiday with Russian girlfriend Irina over his newborn son, that made the media comes up with the story of the adoption.
Or maybe the media is trying to push Cris to talk about the real thing about the baby. Who knows ??
